Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before buying a plantable calendar.
How does planting actually work?
It could not be simpler. When you are finished with a month card, just put it in soil and water it — that is it. The card is made of real seed paper, so the seeds are already inside. Cover it lightly with a thin layer of soil, keep it damp, and it grows.
You do not need a special pot, extra tools or any gardening gear. Any container with a little soil, or a patch of earth in the garden, works.
What exactly is plantable seed paper?
It is paper made with real seeds embedded into the fibre. Instead of recycling the card, you bury it in soil and water it — the paper breaks down and the seeds germinate.
You can still write on it and handle it normally. It behaves like paper right up until you plant it.
Do I need soil, a pot or anything else?
Just soil and water — nothing else. Use a plant pot you already have, a balcony planter, or a patch of garden soil. Cover the card, water it, done.
When should I plant the cards?
Whenever you finish with a month — or save them all up and plant everything at the end of 2027. There is no deadline, and the cards keep fine stored flat and dry.
What will actually grow?
Each set contains a mix of flowers, herbs and garden varieties, so the designs stay interesting through the year. The exact varieties vary by batch.
Do I need gardening experience?
No. The whole process is: put the card in soil, add water, keep it damp. If you can water a houseplant, you can do this.
Can I grow them indoors?
Yes. A pot on a windowsill works well and is the easiest way to start. You can also plant them in planters, balcony boxes or a garden bed.
How long until I see growth?
Typically one to three weeks, depending on the variety, light and temperature. Keep the soil consistently moist — that is the single biggest factor.
Does the printing ink affect the seeds?
No. The paper and printing are made to be planted. Just do not add fertiliser or plant food during the first few weeks.
How does the calendar work during the year?
It is a normal 2027 calendar — 12 month cards you use for dates and planning. The difference is what happens to each card afterwards: instead of throwing it away, you plant it.
Is it a good gift?
It is one of the easier gifts to get right: useful immediately, and it turns into a small project later. It works for housewarmings, teachers, coworkers and anyone who likes plants.
Where does it ship from, and how long does it take?
Orders are fulfilled from a U.S. warehouse. Tracked shipping is available worldwide, and you have 30 days to return it.
